Officially a One Year old!

First of all, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to everyone. We have been so busy that I haven't had time to post in a while.
Our little girl is ONE YEAR old! I can't believe it. Her birthday weekend, was awesome, but also exhausting..... who knew that birthday parties could be so tiring?

Our daughter received so many presents on Christmas, that we didn't want to overwhelm her on her birthday... we may have gone a tad over board for Christmas presents. Also since her birthday is a week after Christmas, we had to make sure we had everything for her birthday as well.
Let's just say that I learned something..... her second Christmas we will be buying items throughout the year and not all at once. That way it won't break the bank and we aren't rushing. Oh the things you learn as a first time parent.

For her birthday my husbands brother and best friend came down for the weekend.  The day of her birthday ( The third of January ) we ended up taking her out to lunch at Denny's. She had her own mini pizza and mashed potatoes, and I ordered stuff off the Hobbit themed menu. The Hobbit Hole Breakfast.

After the breakfast/lunch, we went and did our running around. Got things for her actual birthday party, which was on Saturday. We ended up buying some Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for her to try with just immediate family once we got home. She face planted the cupcakes.... no hands required lol.
On Saturday, we got everything ready for her birthday. It was a cute Owl themed. I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted.... but I'm working on my photography skills lol. Her cake was an owl made out of cupcakes, it turned out really well. My dad made it for her, he's awesome at baking and cooking things like that. We had a spread of appetizers, veggie and meat and cheese trays. Family and close friends showed up. She ended up getting a turtle walker, $10 (which is going into her savings account ), some adorable outfits, a Sully Monsters Inc plush talking toy, a Glow Worm ( which sings at night ), a book about lions, which reminded me we have to get her The Lion King on dvd soon. She'll love the songs in it. She also got some ABC blocks, a Blue hippo with balls that it bounces, a picnic set that talks and sings. I haven't even listed her Christmas gifts. She had a cupcake off her cake... didn't really smash it, she was too busy feeding my aunt and uncles dog and wandering around visiting everyone. She was so tuckered out that she slept for a solid 7 hours after her party.

The wings were made with chocolate coins, it was so good. If she continues loving Toy Story as much as she does, I have a feeling her second birthday will be Toy Story themed.
That's all I have for now. Next post will be a 1 year update ( milestones, foods, etc )
It still blows me away that our daughter is officially a toddler.

  1. Happy Birthday to your little one! Both my kids' birthdays are within days of Christmas, so I think they're always going to be overwhelmed with gifts in December. We're definitely going to have to plan ahead and buy throughout the year, too.
